Have you been injured by an animal?
At Adams Harrison, we offer no win no fee representation and advice – and all of it from friendly and approachable lawyers that are members of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Most animal related injuries are caused by dogs, but other animals can also inflict injuries to a victim. Furthermore, the psychological injury of an animal attack can be profound.
How to claim for an animal injury compensation
The first step is to contact our personal injury department to find out if you have a claim. We can help you through the process from start to finish. This will include gathering information from you about the accident and assessing the best way that we can help you.
Each animal owner has a duty of care to keep the animal under control and prevent it from causing injury or damage. If they fail to keep their animal under control and it causes injury you can make a claim against the animal owner. In some cases the animal may be classed as a dangerous one and the Animal Act 1971 may be applicable. The law applies particularly to dangerous species of animal and where there has been negligence or the owner has provoked the animal. It is often critical to examine the behaviour of the animal including the animal’s past behaviour when assessing a potential claim.
How long do I have to make a claim?
The law generally sets a time limit of three years from the date of injury in which to start a claim although there are exceptions to this. If you are unsure please get in touch with us to allow us to advise you. We recommend you get in contact with us as soon as possible
